Re: Leaving to take Shy back to vet!!!
Good luck Andi. Shimmer had gotten down to 46 grams at her low point and they were still able to get blood but it had to go to a special lab that worked with low quanity samples. The ONLY place we could get blood from was her tail.
I hope the meds work .. HUGS you have my number if ya need me
sending prayers your way.

Awww Andi ... I hope this works out. Part of my vet's well baby check is to draw blood. She does it from the tail. I always hold my babies for her to get the blood out. It is VERY hard .... But somehow my vet does it so well that you don't hear a peep from the gliders!!

Re: Leaving to take Shy back to vet!!!
I can only hope it goes that easy. I'm going to have to call her vet tomorrow. I've been giving her the Nutri-Cal, plus her other medicine, plus all the glideraide she can stand, and all the fruits and vegetables that have lots of fluid content. The poor thing should be floating out of her cage by now. She does pee some, but I still don't think she's pooped at all. I don't want to have to seperate her from her cagemates (she gets extremely depressed,) but I don't now how to be able to tell otherwise. I know she doesn't poop during playtime because she doesn't do anything other than walk around. So I'm going to call and ask him if she hasn't gone, just how long am I supposed to wait? They had me schedule a follow-up for 2 weeks from now. I am most definitly NOT going to wait that long if she hasn't gone. This is so damn frustrating!!

I am so sorry Andi! I know how frusterating it is. Popeye was almostthe same but he could not pee. I'm still holding positive thoughts for Shy and you. But your right, you can not wait that long.

Re: Leaving to take Shy back to vet!!!
OK, Shy seems to be doing better. I have had no problems with her taking her meds and she is putting on some weight (she doesn't feel as bony.) The problemI'm running into now is the others won't let her out of the pouch and when she does manage to make it out they climb on her back and bite at the back of her neck. It's not so hard that they draw blood, but you can tell she's trying to get away from them. Any ideas as to what in the hell is going on now? The poor girl can't seem to catch a break. She's been in with the 2 girls since they were 9 weeks old (they are getting ready to turn one this month.) The other is a neutered male and he's been with them for about 6 months. Only 1 of the girls is bugging her the other seems to pretty much leave her alone and the male seems o be the biggest instigator.
