Tammy I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. My daughter was raised on Alimentum it was expensive but like with Karson all her symptoms disappeared and she did great! I so hope it works for Karson too! There is nothing worse than watching your baby suffer my heart goes out to you.

Re: HELP HELP HELP
Tammy, I can share 2 stories with you- one is my daughter, Ayla, who was allergic to IRON at a time when WIC refused to allow their checks to be used to purchase formula with no iron- we put her on whole milk at just 3 months and for 2 months her symptoms disappeared... then returned with a vengeance... we tried EVERYTHING... even goat's milk... soy based formulas... and eventually moved her to SILK and she NEVER had a problem again.
The 2nd story is my grandson, Trysten- we had the same issues yua re having, right down to the rashes, the doctor saying it was acid reflux, and having to hold him upright for 30 minutes after eating, not to mention he had to be almost upright WHILE feeding... the weird thing is, he suffered off and on to age 10 months and then I tried straight whole milk... and his symptoms disappeared almost over night!
Basically, no matter what is wrong in the long run I am trying to say you WILL fid and answer and karson will be FINE... and if you need me, you know I am only 30 minutes away... and you can call me 24/7 if you need ANYTHING- even just a shoulder :)

Re: HELP HELP HELP
If he does develop a sensitivity to alimentum, move on to the next choice - nutramagen, goat's milk - When Kate had all this (plus foamy, greasy diarrhea) the pediatrician croaked when I suggested goat milk but we had already worked through her sister's sensitivities. He said he would ck w/a nutritionist and if she agreed, then goat milk would be ok. She loved the idea, told him how much more absorbable the calcium was, fat emulsified, etc etc.
She never ate shellfish but after becoming a chef, she developed a terrible allergy to lobster, etc, big, extensive hives, etc, carries an epi pen.
All those food sensitivities are related, I think. He will be fine. He just has all of the symptoms at once. And the pediatricians are jaded. When my grandson was admitted to the hospital for breathing treatments, I asked them to try goats milk. He is almost 2 and has never had another respiratory infection. Cow's milk is great for baby cows, but not all humans.

Re: HELP HELP HELP
If the allergist and formula changes do not resolve his symptoms a visit to a Pediatric Gastroenterologist might also be in order. There are some uncommon absorbtion syndromes that might be the problem.
Tammy, I hope the formula change starts helping quickly.

Re: HELP HELP HELP
Our first pediatrician in Houston, Pete Killinger, had 4 or 5 kids. When I asked him about my son's formula sensitivity, he said, "just a minute, let me call my wife". From that moment on, I loved that man. He said he didn't have much nutrition instruction in med school and was so busy doing his internship, residency, etc when the kids were little that she knew more about nutrition and feeding babies than he did.
He was a fantastic pediatrician!

Re: HELP HELP HELP
I wish Karson's pediatrician was like that or like Ashley's was. Ashley's pediatrician had a massive heart attack and died about 3 years ago, he was my age and he was the best. If he were alive, Karson would be better for it.
Dr. Kline is okay but she is young and has no children and there are alot of things were learn from raising children. All kids are not the same and at times, doctors tend to lump them all together.
The specialist that Karson is going to this week has their office in the largest childrens hospital in North Florida and it is an excellent hospital.
Dee, I am with you about the cows milk is for baby cows, and another thing I've always wondered about......why do humans continue to drink milk after weaning? No other mammal drinks milk after they wean but we do.

Re: HELP HELP HELP
I personally am not much of a milk drinker and the thought of goats milk kinda makes me queasy, BUT...it is the most easily digested of all the milk products. Milk is supposed to be so great because of the calcium and Vitamin D, but it is NOT easily tolerated by anything other than COWS. All those little pesky stomach issues we have now and then are probably related to dairy products.
