Re: HELP HELP HELP
I'm sorry Tammy, for you and Karson! But I agree with Coeli, try Enfamil Nutrmagin. We had very similar issues with Jae and she was premature and until 4 months of age until we switched to that formula (after about 4 others) it finally cleared up. Dramatically overnight. It is hypoallergenic, and worth a shot. But beware, it's was like $25 a can and that was almost 9 years ago. I had WIC at the time and had a RX given to me to help with costs for it. This is also a lifesaver with babies with reflux http://www.ambybaby.com/ Also, when it comes to health I strongly suggest a pediatric specialist, do a little research instead of just a clinic Dr.

Awww Tammy, sending your tons of hugs for you. Karson and your daughter. Luis also had problems with formula and his pediatrician changed him to Nutramigen right away. I agree with all others!!!
I would start changing his formula right away ... I did not need a prescription to buy Nutramigen but I don't know now ...
XOXO

Re: HELP HELP HELP
I am sorry to hear that Karson is having all this trouble. The upset stomach, rash and stinky diarhea to me means Celiac.
Until you find out what is causing all of this I would also iliminate gluton from his diet, if your daughter was breast feeding he was getting what ever she was eating. Gluton would be anything oat, wheat, rye, or barley, modified food starch is considered gluton as you can never be sure.
I would also make sure that any soaps or lotions that you use on him do not contain any of those listed in the ingredients.
When my friend logs on I will ask her about his symptoms, I consider her to be the expert in regards to Celiac, I have only been dealing with Celiac since June.
Best wishes for a fast resolution to this, poor little guy in so much pain and no one getting any rest.

Re: HELP HELP HELP
Theo was allergic to soy as well, which is why they put him on the Alimentum. It had vegetable protien in it and it smelled like fish and crackers. The soy formula we tried him on made him sicker than the lactose based formula and my breast milk ever did.

No, you don't need a prescription for Nutramigen. If your on wic you would though, I had wic when Jae was born, she was a preemie, we were unprepared and because she needed that formula it was a lifesaver!

Re: HELP HELP HELP
I hope he feels better soon. Poor little boy!
My nephew sounds exactly like him... his doctors thought he was allergic to milk..without actually testing for it! They put my nephew on soy products etc... he was always way underweight and suffered for years.. finally my brother took him to an allergist and we found out Zack was allergic to soy! we had been making him worse.. he is also allergic to corn, wheat and everything has to be organic or 100 pct natural for him..no margarine..only real butter... Zack is 8 years old and weighed 48 pounds!!! since the allergist and new diet he has gained weight and not had the vomit and liquid pooh....
I agree with others,,, new doctor and definately take him to an allergist.
Best of luck to you all

OH Tammy I am so sorry to hear this! I agree try nutramagen we had two lactose intollerant boys and it was horrible till they got on nutramagen. And I would get a second opinion if it were me. It can't hurt! Prayers to you guys! Have you tried oatmeal baths or baking soda baths for the itching? Those help too.

Re: HELP HELP HELP
Tammy, my youngest had this exact problem w/the same exact symptoms. I switched her to goat's milk and w/in 3 days she was a different baby. She is 26, still cannot do dairy but is the healthiest of all the kids.
When this started w/my grandson, we switched him to goat's milk and his symptoms never progressed.
I used nutramagen w/her sister and it wasn't nearly as successful as the goat's milk.

Re: HELP HELP HELP
My daughter and her hubby are wonderful, loving parents. I couldn't be more proud of the both of them in how much they love their son and how attentive they are to all his needs, however, they are first time parents and we all know how that is. Everything is done by the book and whatever rolls out the pediatricians mouth is gospel and that is mostly a good thing but we forget that doctors are human too and they can/will make mistakes or miss something.
That is what I told my daughter yesterday morning and also told her that there was something more with Karson, this wasn't just acid reflux and eczema, yeah he has the symptoms of both but he has MORE too! Told her to listen to me and I explained everything he had going on and how some of that could be related to acid reflux but also explained he had more allergy type symptoms. The persistent cough, sneezing, red and itchy watery eyes, and the congested sound in his throat and nose that magically comes and goes and he has NEVER had a cold. Now this rash he has, every picture of eczema I've seen doesn't look like what Karson has. He has NONE of his face, the worst places are on his back, chest and stomach, he is covered in there and it looks like HIVES. Everything I've read about treating or keeping eczema under control is how we've always done Karson. He doesn't have dry skin, never has, he has always been lotioned twice a day since he was born. No cradle cap ever, only use unscented, hypoallergenic soaps and lotions. All his clothes and blankets are 100% cotton and he doesn't use regular crib sheets, I bought these swaddling blankets made by Aden and Anais, they are Muslin wraps and huge, made from 100% organic cotton and those are used as sheets and blankies. I love them they keep him warm and allow his skin to breathe.
Also reminded Ashley of her allergy to seafood, how it affects her. She will projectile vomit and break out in hives in mainly the same places. Reminded her of her bad allergies and told her Karson could very well have inherited them. I told her how that my gut was telling me that her doctor was wrong about what was going on with Karson, how I honestly believed it was an allergy to whey protein and most infants that have that will have the same reaction to soy protein too.
She listened and decided that maybe Mom does know best sometimes and called the doctor!!!!! We took him and the doctor agreed that it could be an allergy causing his problems and switched his formula to Alimentum and Karson has an appointment with a pediatric allergist next week!!!!
I don't know if I am so desperate for Karson to feel and get better but I swear, by yesterday evening, he WAS different. After 2 bottles of the Alimentum there was not the first bit of vomiting, all of it stayed down him. His rash looks better to me, I can't even see any on his arms anymore and he NEVER tried to scratch his legs and NO coughing at all and NO red, watery eyes either!!!!
I hope that this just isn't a temporary thing or a fluke, I am praying with all my heart and soul that this will be the beginning of his healing.
