Baby Bunny Emergency

Post by USMom on Sun Oct 04, 2009 2:25 pm

It is raining snakes and bunnies, here, apparently. It is raining so much that my yard is flooded. And a baby bunny came hopping up on my porch. I talked to Val, she said leave it. Lets see if momma comes. And while I was talking to her, he hopped into the pool. I got him out, got him in the house and wrapped up, but I don't know what to do now. He is about 5 or 6 inches long, nose to tail, eyes are open. The bunnies here are pretty friendly, and mom and dad eat in my yard every day. I can walk very close to them. I just searched my yard, front and back, and see no sign of any other babies or the parents. Don't know if they drowned or what. HELP!

Oh no! Poor bunny. If it's not the rain or pool water, the snakes would eat him! Wish I had more advice, wouldn't have a clue where to begin either.

Yes, she sure did! :) He is in a laundry basket with a heating pad UNDER part of the basket, and fleece lined, and a blanket on top. I gave him some green beans (fresh), alfalfa sprouts and bok choy to eat. So far he hasn't eaten.

Here are pics of the bunny (and the snake, I told you it was raining snakes and bunnies)

OMG, That is one big snake and if my eye's are right there are 2 snakes in that pic. Don't get me wrong I love snakes but that's a little scary. good thing the bunny is inside and not out there with them.

Wow. I'm so glad we don't have any snakes. That's one good thing about leaving Texas [sorry, Laura. lol]! No snakes at all. Opossus, racoons, skunks, yes. Snakes, mosquitos, no.

Try a bit of hay - oat, grass, timothy. It keeps their caecums active. They are a lot like gliders except w/o the big protein and honey. So so so cute!!! I have the bunny bug. . . . .

I'm very sorry to read this as it totally triggered the bunny bug. I love house bunnies and have really missed having one. Puppy, bunny. Shoot.

If my MRI on Tues is good, I am going to have to handcuff myself to something to keep from getting a puppy or bunny. I will probably have 1 or 2 new grandbabies in the next year. If I am going to have a baby animal, the time is now. I am so being good.

Enjoy your bunny for a bit, Shawna. All of those babies are so so sweet and cute!!!

Let me know if you need any baby wild animals, Dee. I'm sure that I'll be able to find you one or two!
